Well Barn, North Cornwall
Well Barn is available for bookings via English Country Cottages

Well Barn is south facing near Lanteglos Valley and adjacent to Bowood Golf Course which is open to non-members. The hamlet was once a very old small farm settlement that ceased working around 1950. There is a garage-shop-off- license within easy walking distance and main shopping is one mile.

Tramagenna is closed to through-traffic but in days gone by travellers on the old track ways would water at the wells fed by hidden springs. It was the springs which first attracted and sustained human settlement here. Travellers and early pilgrims used these ancient routes between Cornwall, Glastonbury and London. Native American Indian Chiefs landing at Cornish ports passed on their way to visit English royalty. Many nearby villages are named after saints.

North Cornwall is largely a protected area of outstanding natural beauty with a rich diversity of wildlife. The air quality is excellent and the coastline is one of the most spectacular in Britain with beautiful beaches, quiet coves and peaceful moor land. Some prefer walking the many footpaths and bridle ways on the coastline and moors to sunbathing on the beaches. One such footpath passes adjacent to the hamlet.

Local facilities include many indoor and outdoor leisure interests including horse riding and hang gliding with a sports centre and swimming pool near at hand and a host of activities on both land and water to suit everyone. Polzeath and Widemouth Bay are the main surfing centres with equipment for hire and lessons available. The Camel cycle trail is very popular winding along the beautiful Camel estuary with fantastic views from the moors all the way to Padstow fishing village.

Local Maps and Activities Well Barn has local OS maps, books on Cornwall and ‘What's On’ literature for the area.
